Ethical Approval Process for Research Conducted in Somalia

We are pleased to inform you that the Somali Researchers Association (SRA), is now issuing Research Ethical Approval for research activities involving human participants in Somalia.

SRA is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in research and ensuring that studies conducted in Somalia respect participants’ rights, safety, and dignity. Our Ethics Committee provides a professional, timely, and transparent review process aligned with international best practices.

Why This Matters

Ethical approval is not just a formality it is a critical safeguard that ensures:

  • Research participants are treated with respect and integrity
  • Researchers follow sound ethical principles throughout their study
  • The credibility and quality of the research are upheld

Streamlined Ethics Review Process

To initiate the approval process, Principal Investigators (PIs) are required to complete a Research Ethics Initial Checklist. This checklist allows our Ethics Committee to quickly assess the ethical soundness of your proposed study.

  • If the checklist meets our standards, approval is issued swiftly.
  • If further details are needed, an extended application form will be provided for more comprehensive review.

To begin your application, request the checklist from sra@sra.so please complete the checklist and send it to same email.

Sincerely,
Dr. Shafie Sharif Mohamed
